I have taken 3 hikes in the book and really enjoyed them. I plan on trying all the hikes just to get out and explore North Carolina. Each hike has a brief introduction to the trail and area, then he takes you on the hike, mostly directions of where to go, etc. There is a map of each trail and area but it's not as detailed as the trail map, so you need to pick up a map before you go just to be safe. Each hike also gives you an elevation gain, mileage, difficulty level, and estimated time it should take you.In the beginning of the book there is a full page spread of NC that shows you where all the hikes are. I use it often to plan my next hike, starting close to my house then I'll get further away.
