New York City For Dummies (Dummies Travel) ReviewThis book was very helpful. I enjoyed the brief history of NYC and the simple easy descriptions of different sections of NYC.
They have very good suggestions on Cabs, Subways, Buses, Eating, where to stay, suggested itineraries, etc. Loads and loads of contact information for museums and sights to see.

I was disappointed at this book. I was expecting something far better from National Geographic. More detailed explanations, legends for price ranges or at least a Manhattan map maybe. This book fails the reflect the variety of activities that you can do in New York. Instead it lists rules for not making noisy conversations or not leaning on the bars in subway. This insider tips were unsatisfactory. I referred to it only once or twice during the week we spent in New York.
